The start of a new holiday tradition, minus the crying baby.

We waited in line with dozens of others for a ride on the Pink Pig. The Pink Pig has been a holiday tradition in Atlanta since 1953. For two whole minutes, MR grinned from ear to ear as we rode Priscilla, the pink pig, through a life-sized story book of Christmas in Atlanta. Christmas trees, candy canes, and lots of sweet southern pigs dressed in their Sunday best filled the tracks.

After our adventures on Priscilla, we headed to meet Santa Claus. Last year, it was the “deer in headlights” look. This year, it was sheer terror. MR sent elves scrambling and had Santa seriously considering early retirement. She kicked. She screamed, and she cried like I had never seen before. $24 later and much to the relief of the staff, we left Santaland with two 5 X 8 pictures of this…

Here are a few other “keepers” that Garrett took…I’m pretty sure none of these pictures will be in the running for this years Christmas card.

I do believe this is the FIRST time I have ever seen my niece not smile from ear to ear (except the deer in the headlights picture but she was just a baby then). Still, even screaming, she is ADORABLE. Can’t wait to see her Wednesday. And y’all too, of course.

I just laughed so loud that I almost woke Charlie up. Too funny! I LOVE the deer in the headlights shot from last year. But no Christmas tradition is complete without that one picture with Santa. Makes me think of one of my all time favorite movies ever: Christmas Story. I haven’t taken Chuck yet for her pics but I’m looking forward to it. We’ll see how she does.

That is so funny! This will be excellent material for sometime between her senior year of high school and her rehearsal dinner.

My mom has so many pictures of me on the Pink Pig…she could probably fill an album with just those annual shots. It’s such a neat Atlanta tradition. We also always did Breakfast with Santa at Macy’s. Another fun one, for sure!

So glad y’all are making special memories.

I was always soo scared of santa! We have an antique santa that lights up and we put it out sunday and our dogs are freaked by it:) Sooo funny:) My parents have a picture of me when I was 3 and my sister and I were both crying!!
My sweater dress is from target!!! My friend gave it to me for my birthday:) I wear leggins with it and a white loong sleeved shirt underneath:) Love your blog by the way and your daughter is darling:)

I’m not sure if you know me or not, but I’m a friend of Lauren’s, and I read your blog and Julie’s blog religiously, I love seeing your pictures and reading your hilarious stories. Anyway, every year my family watches old home movies of MY mom and uncle when they were kids, and being born in 1954 and 1958, the Pink Pig was a huge part of their holidays. Every year everyone laughs about the Pink Pig, and I had nooo idea it was still around! :-)
