Sugar and spice and everything nice!

Because few things in life are sweeter than an almost 13 month old little girl and a warm, homemade apple pie…

This Sunday is our much anticipated neighborhood fall festival. There will be apple bobbing, hayrides, and of course, a costume parade. There will also be a charity cake auction. Desperate to “get-in”  with the other neighborhood moms, I eagerly volunteered to make a pie.

After comparing dozens of recipes, I finally settled on one and spent the next four hours trying to come up with a snazzy name for my apple pie.  A name that would make my pie a winner; a name that would bring in the big bucks and make me the talk of the neighborhood. Finally, I settled on “Classic Apple Pie”. Ok, I know, nothing exciting, but how can you go wrong with a pie that has “classic” in the title?! I figure my biggest competition will come from some other pie that will be named “Granny’s famous _____ pie”.

Anyways, last night, G and I did a run-through of the recipe. We cored, peeled, and sliced 8 cups of Granny Smith and McIntosh apples. After baking for an hour, we sat back and enjoyed our first ever attempt at apple pie. I don’t want to toot my own horn, but this “classic” pie puts “granny’s” to shame…

Being from the “Classic City”, the apple pie could have no other name. Makes me really want a piece and I think I will take it with just a little ice cream to top it off. Glad you have perfected the recipie. Now we will take one for Thanksgiving!
I am missing MR and Sadie!

Don’t make me have to drive down there…that pie looks delicious, but you are our little baker! That sweet G, he is the best helper. I want an apple pie AND a G.

Oh my lord, that pie looks so good!!! I have to have one…now….

Can’t wait to see pictures from this weekend! And I am sure you won’t need to win anything to get in good with those moms…

What a fun neighborhood you live in!!

Personally, I prefer the simple name because it allows the pie to speak its own volumes. Approach is humble, delivery is exceptional!

It looks absolutely beautiful! I’m really impressed. I have never had a good pie-making experience. I just can’t quite get them right. Maybe I can learn from Chef Carly!

Hope y’all have fun this weekend. Looking forward to pics!

  6. Makes me want to bake a GF Apple Pie…
